By Marcus Luttrell, with Patrick Robinson, Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. If you are like me, this book will leave you fiercely proud of the young men and women who serve in the US armed forces. Whet your appetite with this Washington Post piece, The Lone Survivor.

Greater Than You Think. My colleague Fr. Thomas Williams,L.C. offers thoughtful and compelling responses to the British journalist and professional provocateur Christopher Hitchens.

The Promise. Another of my colleagues and Fox News analyst Fr. Jonathan Morris takes on the one of the big questions—Why do we suffer?—from the point of view of Christian scriptures and his rich experience of life as a Catholic priest.

Camelot and the Cultural Revolution, by James Piereson, a Senior Fellow of the Manhattan Institute and president of the Simon Foundation. How the Kennedy assassination shattered the liberal movement in America—provocative, fascinating and extremely well written and researched.

Haven’t read it yet, but looks wonderful: Render Unto Caesar: Serving the Nation by Living Our Catholic Beliefs in Political Life by Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver. See an interview about the book here.

If you want a taste of classic literature, sit back and savorAnthony Esolen’s new translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy (in three separate volumes: Inferno, Purgatory, Paradise). The translation is delightful and the author’s annotations and introduction to each canto are especially designed to make Dante’s masterpiece accessible to persons entirely unfamiliar with this great work.

And finally (my new addition), Su Doku for Dummies by Andrew Heron and Edmund James.
